This dead kitchen was too
small for today’s modern appliances, and lacked the appropriate space
for the required kitchen work zones. Several design ideas were presented
and the final decision was made to keep the kitchen it its original
location. The project scope of work included remodeling the kitchen with
all new products, add additional square footage to increase storage and
counter surfaces, and create a new access to the kitchen from the
hallway and open up the exterior wall to a new great room addition. Some
borrowed space from an unused adjacent room provided the square footage
needed for the new appliances and create an efficient work triangle. A
new access from the rear hallway improved the home’s traffic flow into
the kitchen. Ultimately, the clients added a new great room and removed
the original exterior kitchen wall. With the wall removed, the clients
could now enjoy cooking and entertaining friends and family at the same
time.
