2010 Best Whole House Remodel
$500,000 - $1 Million
The
owners of this in-town house were able to turn their home of 12 years
into their dream house. Their desires included a large eat-in family
room, and outdoor entertaining area, a master bedroom suite with his and
hers baths, and exercise room… and all done with a commitment to
sustainable building practices. The design continues the lines and
materials of the existing house, while developing its own subtle
signature in the distinctive detailing of the paired pilasters at the
first floor corners, the band of French doors along the back of the
house, and the introduction of the Chippendale lattice in the back as a
decorative element. This project accomplished all the client’s
objectives, and even produced additional benefits by…moving the laundry
room upstairs for convenience, creating a covered porch off the master
bedroom overlooking the garden, increasing the views of the garden and
creating a wine cellar and storage area in the basement.
