This project illustrates
what happens when the architectural elements of a classic arts and
crafts era home melds with the lifestyle desires of a modern home owner.
The house opens up to a magnificent lake view in a manner that pays
homage to the original aesthetic and architectural detail. The original
bay window was replaced with a box-bay that opened up to an outdoor room
from the family room. The terrace is rimmed by a stone-capped knee-wall
that serves as both periphery seating for the fire pit and as a border
separating public from private spaces. Upstairs, they created a balcony
covered by a curved metal roof...a design element taken directly from an
original brick in-lay pattern in the home.
