2009 Kitchen Remodel $50,000 - $75,000
The existing kitchen plan was
extremely disintegrated. There were three entry points into the kitchen
and every appliance or plumbing fixture was placed so that there was
never more than four feet of continuous counter space. The solution
started with removing one entry point into the living room while
creating a pass-thru bar top that gave our client's daughter a place to
sit and do homework without being in the way of the cook. This also
created valuable wall space where cabinetry and a continuous run counter
top could be placed. The pass-thru also provided more light from the
living room and a better visual connection into the kitchen. The final
part of this solution involved moving the refrigerator into a nook that
was created by reframing a former pantry closet. This also allowed the
addition of three feet of counter space to the u-shaped plan and the
relocation of the microwave so a child would not have to reach over the
stove while standing on a stool to operate it.
