Every inch of this Greek
revival home was completely restored. Many hours of sanding were
required to prep the exterior cypress siding for paint. The exterior
shutters were stripped, repaired and reinstalled using period specific
hardware. Using a set of original drawings the front and rear balconies
were reconstructed as they were originally. All interior walls were
refurbished and repainted. Two duplex kitchens on the second floor were
eliminated to make room for a stairway which was shown in the original
plans. The original stairway was found in hundreds of pieces in the
attic, and only a few pieces had to be custom made. Pieces from an
original stained glass window were also found in the attic and a special
frame was constructed for the stained glass bayou scene.
