In 2003 a wildfire spread
to a residential neighborhood and this home was not spared. Marrokal
Construction Company had done two remodels for these clients in the
past, and were immediately contacted to rebuild the home. The site had
some magnificent views that the position of original home did not enjoy,
so one of the challenges was to convince the planning board to allow the
home to be repositioned 45 degrees on the site. The new home now has
remarkable views from the living, dining, master bedrooms and the stair
tower. The main design feature conceived through the planning process
was "axial" corridors so that from the foyer there is a direct view
through the center of the home to doors at the rear that open onto a
wonderful garden. The new home is arguably the most attractive home, old
or new, in the neighborhood.
