What started out as a
simple porch addition with enclosed space below for outdoor furnishings
and tools, soon turned into a complete transformation of the outdoor
living space as well. The projects started with the two exterior doors.
The rear deck was built on ground level to accommodate the owner's hot
tub. A large cedar pergola was added to the deck structure to create
intimacy in a very open space. The second deck was built at the level of
the new porch addition. This deck would be used more for entertaining
and was designed with stairs to lead to a lower patio area. By building
stone walls and a cedar pergola above, this patio creates a great space
for entertaining away from the client's busy neighborhood street.
