Renovation
This project added two
bedrooms and a bath to this historic home, while not affecting the front
of the house. Due to a late discovery that there was no grandfather
clause in the new zoning setbacks for this historic district, a redesign
had to be done and the new plan had to take in the entire footprint of
the home. The roof was raised and the pitch increased to gain the needed
headroom and the exterior trim was duplicated by using a combination of
modern trim pieces to match the original.
For the infrequent passerby they knew there was a change but were not
sure what…maybe the paint. The home gained two bedrooms and a bath, but
still retained its Historic Craftsman style.
