This second floor addition includes a new master bedroom, master bath and closet, as well as a generously sized rooftop deck with an outdoor fireplace. The new upper level is connected to the first floor by a two story stair tower, inserted where a section of the original concrete roof was carefully cut away and removed. The inverted “butterfly” roof with its broad roof overhand protects the wide bank of operable doors and windows on the east façade and shades the rooftop deck. The resulting home earned a 5-Star green building rating…the highest offered.
