The
owners of this grand 1925 home always thought the front of the home was
missing character and charm that the home deserved. The original records
at the building department indicate the original builder intended on
building a grand porch, which was never done. Using brick to match the
home, we designed the brick staircase with sandstone steps to be full
width and to be grand and inviting. The brick piers anchor the porch
using custom made lattice work to accent the brick piers. The center
peak was designed to highlight the entry door and accent the original
upper roof line. The original sidelights and transom were restored and a
custom door was built to fit the home. For the porch ceiling we utilized
tongue and groove poplar wood that was sealed using a clear coat that
brought out the wood grain.
